Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Field Manager to oversee daily field operations for MDU telecom projects, including fibre optic installation, service drops, splicing coordination, restoration, and crew management.

The Field Manager will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to client specifications. This role requires strong leadership, field experience, problem-solving skills, and the ability to coordinate crews, materials, equipment, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day field operations for MDU telecom construction projects.
  • Supervise field crews, and equipment operators.
  • Coordinate fibre installation, drops, and related telecom work.
  • Communicate with Civil crews for completion of projects
  • Review project drawings, site plans, locates, permits, and client scopes of work.
  • Ensure crews are following project specifications, safety requirements, and company procedures.
  • Schedule crews and equipment based on project timelines and site readiness.
  • Conduct site visits before, during, and after work to confirm project requirements and quality.
  • Communicate with clients, project coordinators, property managers, inspectors, and internal teams.
  • Track daily progress, crew hours, materials, deficiencies, and project updates.
  • Identify and resolve field issues, delays, access concerns, damage, or scope changes.
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed, including photos, daily reports, safety forms, and as-builts when required.
  • Monitor productivity, workmanship, safety, and job costing in the field.
  • Support training, coaching, and performance management of field staff.
  • Ensure work areas are left clean, safe, and properly restored after completion.
  • Report project risks, change orders, damage, or client concerns to management promptly.

Qualifications

  • Experience in telecom construction, fibre optic installation, or MDU field operations.
  • Previous experience managing crews, subcontractors, or field projects.
  • Strong understanding of MDU telecom work, including drops, conduit, drilling, trenching, splicing coordination, and restoration.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, site maps, locates, and project scopes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple crews and job sites at once.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Comfortable using phones, tablets, email, photos, and basic reporting systems.
  • Valid driver’s licence required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and visit active construction sites.

Assets

  • Experience with fibre-to-the-suite, fibre-to-the-building, or MDU retrofit projects.
  • Knowledge of utility locates and working around underground infrastructure.
  • Experience with hydrovac, directional drilling, trenching, and civil restoration.
  • Safety tickets such as First Aid, Ground Disturbance, CSTS, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with telecom providers, property managers, or general contractors.
