Full job description

Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting Kitchen Helpers / Sous Chefs on behalf of one of our valued clients in Chester, NS. We are looking for motivated individuals with kitchen experience who enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy kitchen with an immediate start available.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation and cooking
  • Prepare menu items on both the hot and cold line
  • Support plating and food presentation during service
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
  • Work closely with the kitchen team during busy service periods

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of kitchen, line cook, kitchen helper, or sous chef experience
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when needed
  • Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

Schedule

  • Start Date: As early as next week (ASAP)
  • Contract Length: 3–4 months
  • Schedule is determined by the client based on business needs
  • Shifts may include:
  • 10:30 AM – 10:30 PM (up to 12-hour shifts)
  • Split shifts (10:30 AM – 4:00 PM and evening shift)
  • Operation runs 7 days per week, including weekends

Requirements

  • Non-slip shoes (required)
  • Apron (required)
  • Hairnet provided by the client
  • Dress code: T-shirt and shorts that extend to the knees

Pay Rate

  • $25.00 per hour
  • Opportunity for immediate start
  • Temporary contract lasting approximately 3–4 months, with the possibility of extension based on business needs
