POSITION SUMMARY

The Full-Time Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality meals for Tsawwassen First Nation’s food service operations, including daily meal programs, community events, catering, and special functions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Food Services team to provide nutritious, appealing meals while maintaining efficient kitchen operations, inventory control, and food safety standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, prepare, and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered meals from start to finish
  • Develop rotating menus that are nutritious, cost-effective, and meet the needs of community programs and events
  • Place food and supply orders, maintain inventory, and perform basic food costing and portion control
  • Ensure all food is prepared and served in accordance with FoodSafe and health regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
  • Work closely with the Supervisor of Events & Food Services and other Food Services staff to coordinate meal production and event catering
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitation kitchen organization, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement of food service operations
  • Support special events and community functions as required

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Minimum four (4) years of commercial cooking experience in a restaurant, institutional, or high-volume food service environment
  • Experience planning and preparing complete breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered meal services
  • Experience with menu planning, food ordering, inventory management, and basic food costing
  • Professional Cook Level 1 certification is considered an asset
  • Valid FoodSafe Level 1 certification (FoodSafe Level 2 preferred)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Flexible schedule with some evenings and weekends (full time average of 37.5 hours per week)
  • Primarily in a new industrial kitchen setting with the Respected Elders Building

COMPENSATION

  • Pay range is $33 to $37 per hour. Placement within the pay scale is based on a review of skills, experience and internal equity
  • Annual cost of living increases
  • BC Municipal Pension Plan – employee contributes 8.61%, employer contributes 9.31%
