Full job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Catering Manager to join our team and oversee the successful planning, coordination, and execution of catering events. This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys leading teams, and is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive event operations experience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of service and efficiency.

About the Role

The Catering Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day catering operations, coordinating event logistics, supervising staff, managing inventory and equipment, and ensuring events are executed successfully from start to finish.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage both administrative responsibilities and on-site event operations.

Job Duties Include

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate and oversee catering events from planning through execution
  • Supervise front-of-house event staff and ensure service standards are consistently maintained
  • Assist with staff scheduling and provide operational input based on event requirements
  • Train, mentor, and support team members to ensure excellent service delivery
  • Manage event logistics, including staffing, setup, service flow, and breakdown
  • Monitor operational efficiency
  • Organize and maintain beverage, equipment, and supply inventories
  • Coordinate equipment and supply orders as required for upcoming events
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and liquor legislation
  • Address client concerns and assist in delivering exceptional customer service
  • Work closely with the sales, culinary, scheduling, and administrative teams to ensure seamless event execution
  • Assist with performance management of staff
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practices

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in catering, hospitality, food service, or event operations
  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Business Management, or a related field is considered an asset
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in catering, hospitality, or event services
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Experience managing staff schedules, labour costs, and event logistics
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform effectively under pressure
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and event management software is an asset
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
