Join the Team at Flame & Barrel

Flame & Barrel is an independent, locally owned restaurant and bar proudly serving the Edmonton area. Known for our quality food, handcrafted drinks, globally inspired menu, and exceptional hospitality, we are committed to creating memorable dining experiences for every guest.

As we prepare to open our new St. Albert location, we are looking for a passionate and experienced Line Cook to join our growing kitchen team.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and executing menu items to Flame & Barrel's standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow recipes accurately and demonstrate strong attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
  • Set up and stock food items and other necessary kitchen supplies.
  • Prepare food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, marinating, and preparing sauces.
  • Cook menu items using various techniques including grilling, frying, sautéing, roasting, and baking.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Properly store, label, and rotate food products.
  • Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas.
  • Complete inventory checks and food storage logs as required.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth service operations.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries when required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a full-service restaurant kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Food Safety Certification is considered an asset.
  • Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel, or Restaurant Management is considered an asset.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment with varying temperatures.
