A Prep Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation of ingredients and basic dishes in a kitchen. They play a key role in ensuring that all food is prepared efficiently, safely, and according to recipes and kitchen standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook high-quality food using fresh, genuine ingredients
  • Wash, peel, cut, and measure ingredients for daily food preparation
  • Assist with food prep and support kitchen operations during service
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready kitchen environment
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and FIFO storage procedures
  • Work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicate effectively with managers, teammates, and FOH to ensure smooth service
  • Complete nightly closing duties, including cleaning tasks and preparing the kitchen for the next shift
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and surfaces
  • Assist with receiving, stocking, and rotating deliveries and inventory
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Maintain physical readiness for standing long periods and lifting kitchen supplies/equipment
  • Show passion for hospitality, great food, and delivering a positive guest experience

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation
  • Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical stamina (standing for long periods, lifting up to 25–50 lbs)
  • Food safety certification

Schedule

  • Flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
