Full job description

About the Role

At Al Forno Catering, pizza isn't an afterthought — it's a centerpiece. We're looking for a Pizza Chef who genuinely loves the craft: someone who takes pride in a perfectly stretched dough, a balanced sauce, and a pie that comes out of the oven looking as good as it tastes.

This is a contract, event-by-event position. You'll be called in for corporate events, weddings, private parties, and festivals across the Lower Mainland. If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works clean, and brings real skill to the station — we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing dough, sauces, and toppings fresh for each event — we don't cut corners
  • Operating wood-fired or commercial ovens and maintaining consistent cook times and temperatures
  • Assembling and presenting pizzas to a high standard, every time
  • Keeping your station clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards throughout the event
  • Communicating with the team lead to keep service moving during high-volume periods
  • Flagging any low inventory or supply needs before and after events

What We're Looking For

  • Experience as a pizza chef or in a similar culinary role — you know your way around a dough ball
  • Solid understanding of pizza techniques: stretching, topping ratios, oven management
  • A Food Handler Certification (BC equivalent or ServSafe) — required
  • Reliable transportation to get yourself to events across the Lower Mainland
  • Someone who can stay calm, focused, and professional when it gets busy
  • Flexibility for evenings and weekends — that's when events happen

This position is integral to creating memorable dining experiences for our guests. We value dedication, creativity, and a strong work ethic in our team members.

Pay: $18.50-$20.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Restaurant: 1 year (preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 50% (preferred)

Work Location: In person
