We are S&R Group and for over 60 years we have been building communities "where friendships flourish and life is enriched". We are looking for people who, like us, believe the work we do has a positive impact on their community and that together we can continue supporting our Residents and their families.

Job Description

At our Long Term Care homes, we pride ourselves on creating a warm and welcoming culinary atmosphere with fantastic food. This cook position offers reasonable operating hours you don't often find in the restaurant industry, you can have your evenings to yourself! Help support some of the most vulnerable people in your community in a job that gives great work-life balance.

If you were working for us as a Cook, here are some of the things you would have done last week:

  • Prepared delicious, nutritious meals from scratch that brought comfort and enjoyment to Residents
  • Cooked in batches and managed multiple stations to ensure meals were served on time and at the right temperature
  • Created meals that followed Residents’ dietary needs and texture modifications, always using standardized recipes, safe practices, and ensuring accuracy of the meal to care plans
  • Being a collaborative leader to the kitchen team during service
  • Ensured the kitchen was kept clean, safe, and sanitary by practicing strong food safety habits, from handwashing to routine cleaning and sanitizing
  • Checked and recorded food temperatures to ensure compliance with policies, Public Health regulations, and MOH guidelines
  • Safely operated, cleaned, and maintained kitchen equipment to keep everything in excellent working order
  • Contributed to special events like holiday dinners or summer barbecues that brought Residents and families together
  • And supported your team as needed.

When you apply, if you have your credentials, we will try our best to reach out to you within the week (hopefully within a few days). When you’re eligible with us for benefits, you can expect a variety of them:

  • Flexibility in shift scheduling to support your home life
  • When eligible, you can enjoy full range of extended Health benefits
  • Pension/RRSP matching
  • And many Company Events like our annual recognition parties, team theme parties, lunches, outings, and paid days off

We prioritize promoting from within and support our employees' educational needs because we care for the team we have put together. We come to our workplace each day understanding that we are entering our Residents' Home, and we are there to support them. While we don't take ourselves seriously, we take our jobs seriously and love to have fun with each other and the Residents!
