Does the thought of working in a cheese shop seem like an interesting change of pace?

les amis du FROMAGE is a family owned and operated company with two locations in Vancouver including Kitsilano and East Vancouver. We’ve been voted Vancouver’s Best Cheese Shop by readers of the Georgia Straight every year for more than a decade. We've also been recognized by Vancouver Magazine as one of Vancouver's top suppliers to restaurants and hotels.

We are looking for a couple of individuals that would like to join us behind the cheese counter offering "Cut to Order" service. Cheese knowledge takes time. We need a commitment of 5 days a week, otherwise it can take a long time to get you fully trained. This job is not suitable for someone looking for part time work. Weekend hours are necessary to grow within this position in the company.

We are also hiring one delivery driver. This person will have the same duties as below, but will also do deliveries between stores, and deliveries to wholesale customers in our delivery van.

Your duties will include:

  • Serving retail customers in our shop
  • Weighing / labeling / packaging cheeses
  • Stocking coolers, shelves and displays
  • Preparing orders
  • Assisting with general cleaning and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Able to work 5 shifts per week
  • You must be able to work weekends
  • Be physically fit. You should be able to lift 25kg. You'll be on your feet most of the day.
  • Able to work in cold environments like a walk-in cooler or freezer for short periods of time.
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Use commercial equipment including POS, scales, slicers and packaging equipment

What we can offer

  • 37-40 hours per week
  • Daytime hours (No evenings)
  • Starting wage of $19.00 p/h, wage increases at 3 and 12 months (must work 25+ hours per week)
