About Us

MARU Japanese Bistro is a small kitchen team located in Toronto’s East End (Leslieville). We are looking for a dedicated full-time cook who can focus on preparing our signature nori canapés and maki rolls. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow in a supportive, professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and roll maki and assemble nori canapés to MARU standards
  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards at all times
  • Ensure prep levels are ready for smooth service flow
  • Keep workstation and tools clean, organized, and ready for service
  • Collaborate with a small team in a busy kitchen environment

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of sushi or kitchen experience preferred (training available for candidates with some experience and willingness to learn)
  • Knowledge of Japanese cuisine is an asset
  • Must bring and maintain your own sharp knife(s)
  • Food Handler / SafeCheck certification preferred
  • Reliability, accuracy, and teamwork are essential

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (no part-time or remote work available)

Schedule: 8-hour shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed

Work Location: In person at MARU Japanese Bistro

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour

Experience:
