Position Responsibilities:
- Customer Service Excellence: Engage with Guests in a friendly, attentive, and professional manner. Understand their preferences and provide personalized recommendations.
- Taking Orders: Listen attentively to Guests' drink preferences, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and accurately input their orders. Answer questions about ingredients and make suggestions based on their tastes.
- Mixology and Beverage Preparation: Craft a variety of beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine, and spirits, following recipes and techniques to ensure consistency and quality.
- Drink Presentation: Pay attention to drink presentation, garnishes, and glassware to enhance the visual appeal of beverages served.
- Cash Handling and Transactions: Process payments accurately, handle cash, operate POS (point of sale) systems, and manage tabs efficiently.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked. Wash glassware, utensils, and bar tools regularly to ensure hygiene and a seamless workflow.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of beverages, mixers, garnishes, and other supplies. Restock as needed and communicate inventory needs to management.
- Menu Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the menu offerings, including daily specials and promotions. Be able to describe and recommend menu items to customers.
- Interaction and Engagement: Initiate conversations, build rapport, and create a welcoming atmosphere. Attend to customers' needs promptly and maintain a friendly demeanor.
- Responsible Serving: Adhere to laws and regulations regarding alcohol service, checking IDs to verify legal drinking age, and ensuring customers are not overserved.
- Problem Solving: Handle customer complaints or issues diplomatically, finding solutions to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with kitchen staff, servers, and management to ensure orders are accurate and timely, and overall service runs smoothly.
- Upselling and Salesmanship: Utilize suggestive selling techniques to promote high-margin items and enhance the overall revenue of the establishment.
- Preventive Maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain bar equipment to ensure it's in proper sanitary working condition.
- Knowledge of Mixology Trends: Stay updated on current mixology trends, new ingredients, and cocktail innovations to offer unique and exciting options to customers.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to new bartenders or lounge staff, sharing your knowledge and skills to promote a cohesive team environment.
- Event Support: Assist in organizing and executing special events, promotions, or themed nights that enhance the overall customer experience.
- Resourceful Efficiency: Actively strive to minimize wastage while meticulously adhering to recipes and inventory control procedures. By managing ingredients thoughtfully, you contribute to both a sustainable operation and consistent quality in every pour.
This position requires:
- Responsible Beverage Service Certificate (Serving It Right) Required
- Relevant Experience with cocktails and specialty drinks
- Completion of Bartending Course is an asset
- Knowledge of Wines, Beer and Spirits
- Standard Cash Handling
- FOODSAFE certification is an asset
- Luxury Resort/Hotel Experience
- Exceptional Customer Service
- Excellent Verbal, Listening, and Written Communication Skills
- Ability to Multi-Task and Work Under Pressure
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Flexibility in Work Tasks and Work Schedule
