POSITION OVERVIEW

Our Sidney brewery taproom is looking for an experienced Team Member for a part-time CLOSING SHIFT position with shifts available weekends and some weekdays (you must be available at least one day on the weekend to apply). Closing shifts are regularly scheduled until 10:30 pm or later, so you must have reliable transportation available to you late at night for this role. Number of hours each week is flexible between 10 and 29 hours, according to business needs and your preference. In July and August, we may have more hours available if you wish to increase your hours during the summer.

We will require an employment reference from an employer for whom you worked in the food+beverage hospitality industry (not accommodation hospitality). We are particularly interested in those with either food assembly experience (for example, previous work at a Subway, Starbucks, McDonald's, pizzeria, deli, bakery, or cafe) or with FOH and BOH experience at a restaurant. However, we will consider applications with a variety of related hospitality experience!

Days of Work: Flexible, but you must be available at least one day every weekend (once training has concluded, there will be NO DAY SHIFTS available)

Start Date: April or May start date

Wage: $17.85/hr + tips (typically, an additional $4–$12 for every hour you work during the winter)

ABOUT THE JOB

Our Taproom Team does it all! We do not have specific positions such as Bartender, Server, Host, Expo. Rather, the whole team works together to give our guests the ultimate brewery taproom experience. Team Members make guests feel welcome, educate customers on different beer styles, make artisan sandwiches and assemble snacks and sides, pull pints of beer, wash glassware and dishes, help customers with disabilities use the space, have fun with our coworkers, and keep the taproom stocked, organized, and immaculate!

You will be trained in our food and beverage menus, food assembly, expediting, bussing, doing dishes, and cleaning to start, with an opportunity to learn the bar and till after you have mastered these skills.

ABOUT YOU

Our team is awesome, and you should be too! We are looking for friendly, hard-working, customer service-oriented staff. Excellent punctuality and attendance is required for this role. A positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude is a must! We are especially interested in applicants with food assembly experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 19+ years of age
• BC Serving It Right (required to receive employment offer; no other responsible beverage certifications are accepted)
• FoodSafe Level 1 (course registration within one month if you don't already have it)
• Food assembly or FOH & BOH experience strongly preferred
• Must be available for at least one weekend shift per week
• Must be able to work until at least 10:30 pm on every night of availability
• Must already be eligible to legally work in Canada (we do not issue work permits)
• Must be available to meet in Sidney for a face-to-face interview (no video interviews)
• Must live in Sidney or on the north Peninsula (preferred), or in Victoria with a reliable vehicle
• Effective communication skills (must be able to read English both fluently and quickly, as food and drink orders print in English; should feel comfortable raising your voice to call out a greeting to customers as they arrive)
• An interest in beer/brewing and/or a readiness to learn the industry
• Willingness to adhere to our “clean, but casual” dress code
• Maintain a calm, friendly, positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
• Capacity for physical labour, including dishwashing, cleaning washrooms, sweeping and mopping, bussing, and stocking
• Supervisory experience is a strong asset (please highlight in your resume or cover letter)
