Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and personable Sommelier to join our upscale dining team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine, excellent customer service skills, and a strong background in food and beverage service.

As a Sommelier, you will enhance our guests' dining experience by providing expert wine recommendations, pairing suggestions, and exceptional service. This role offers an opportunity to work in a refined environment where your expertise will be valued and developed.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

Participate with the wine team to constantly improve wine knowledge, uphold service standards and be an example for the service team on the floor in all aspects of service. When applicable, assist other department of service to ensure a seamless and high quality service to our guests beyond wine service.

Guest Experience:

Ensure the highest level of service is consistently delivered to all guests.

Handle guest complaints swiftly and diplomatically, ensuring the issue is resolved to the guest’s satisfaction.

Proactively monitor guest feedback and implement improvements where necessary. Anticipate guest needs and work with staff to ensure seamless service.

Maintain a strong presence on the floor, engaging with guests and addressing any service concerns.

Communicate with other department with feedback to improve our operations.

Inventory Management:

Conduct monthly inventory assessments.

Maintain cleanliness and organization within the wine storage facility.

Process and organize deliveries efficiently.

Assist in tasks aimed at enhancing the profitability of the wine program.

Safeguard and monitor beverage stock, identify potential waste points, and propose actionable solutions.

Ensure all equipment is used and maintained properly and report any maintenance issues immediately.

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the menu, including preparation methods, key ingredients, and pricing.

Ensure compliance with Ontario liquor laws and all health and safety regulations

Qualifications

  • Prior restaurant experience preferred, especially in fine dining or upscale establishments
  • Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, and beverage service techniques
  • WSET 3 and/or CMS Certification, CAPS Certification
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests professionally
  • Good communication skills and a polished demeanor
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A friendly personality with a passion for hospitality and guest satisfaction
  • The desire to exceed guests lofty expectations
