Full job description

About Royal Coachman

Royal Coachman Fine Dining is a long-established, family-run restaurant and event venue in Napanee, Ontario. Alongside full-service dining and our garden wedding-and-events space, we run a popular weekly Take-Home Meals program — fresh meals prepared in-house and delivered across the Napanee and Kingston areas — and we are a proud approved supplier of the Veterans Independence Meal Program.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a talented, food-loving recent culinary graduate to join our kitchen. This is a hands-on chef role with a twist: alongside day-to-day cooking, you'll help us grow our Take-Home Meals line by developing, testing and refining new meals and improving how we produce them. If you love being on the line and you're excited to put your own stamp on new dishes, this is a great place to build your career.

What You'll Do

In the kitchen

  • Prepare and cook menu items to a high standard for dine-in service and the weekly Take-Home Meals program.
  • Handle prep, portioning, packaging and labelling for our ready-to-eat and freeze meals.
  • Follow strict food-safety and sanitation practices and help keep the kitchen clean and organized.
  • Support ordering and inventory and help keep food costs and waste in check.

Menu & meal-product development

  • Help develop, test and refine new meals and seasonal options for the Take-Home Meals and Veterans Independence Meal Program lines.
  • Standardize recipes, portions and costing so dishes can be made consistently and scaled up.
  • Improve batch-cooking, packaging, labelling and freezing/shelf-life quality for the meal program.
  • Gather customer feedback on meals and use it to shape future menu choices.

What We're Looking For

  • A post-secondary credential in culinary arts, culinary management, food & nutrition, or a related field.
  • Solid cooking skills and genuine passion for food quality and consistency.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and kitchen sanitation (Safe Food Handler certification is an asset).
  • Organized and reliable, with the ability to work to weekly production deadlines.
  • A team player who can take direction and bring fresh ideas to the menu.
  • Able to stand for long periods, lift, and keep pace in a busy kitchen.

Who Can Apply

This is a full-time position supported by the Government of Canada's NRC IRAP Youth Employment Program. To be eligible, you must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the contract;
  • Be a post-secondary graduate (university, college, CEGEP, or post-secondary institute of technology);
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada;
  • Be legally entitled to work in Ontario;
  • Be a first-time participant in a Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) work-experience program for post-secondary graduates.

Details & What We Offer

  • Pay: $22 per hour.
  • Schedule: Full-time, 35 - 44 hours per week (some evenings and weekends).
  • Term: Up to 8-month contract, with an anticipated start of July 8, 2026.
  • Location: On-site at 8087 County Road 2, Napanee, Ontario K7R 3K6.
  • A creative, hands-on role where your dishes reach real customers — including local veterans — from day one.

How to Apply

Please apply via the Indeed posting, by July 6, 2026. We thank all applicants; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Licence/Certification:

  • Bachelor of Culinary Arts (required)
