Full job description

West Vancouver Yacht Club is looking for friendly, reliable and service-minded individuals to join our Food & Beverage team.

Located on the waterfront in West Vancouver, WVYC is a private member club with a welcoming, community-focused atmosphere. Our Food & Beverage team provides casual dining, member events, weddings, regattas and other special functions throughout the year.

We are looking for team members who enjoy working with people, take pride in providing great service and understand the importance of creating a warm, consistent and personalized experience for our Members and guests.

Responsibilities include:

  • Warmly greeting Members and guests and helping create a welcoming Club environment
  • Learning and recognizing Members over time and providing attentive, personalized service
  • Providing friendly, professional and consistent table service
  • Taking food and beverage orders accurately and entering them into the POS system
  • Making recommendations and answering questions about menu items, wine, beer and cocktails
  • Serving food and beverages efficiently and accurately
  • Monitoring tables throughout service and responding promptly to Member and guest needs
  • Setting, clearing and resetting tables
  • Preparing dining rooms, patios and event spaces before service
  • Assisting with banquet, wedding, regatta and Club event set-up and service
  • Maintaining clean, organized and well-stocked service stations
  • Completing opening, closing and side duties
  • Processing bills and payments accurately
  • Communicating effectively with the kitchen, bar and other team members
  • Responding professionally to Member feedback and escalating concerns when appropriate
  • Maintaining discretion and professionalism appropriate to a private club environment
  • Following Club service standards, food safety procedures and responsible liquor service requirements

For bartending shifts, responsibilities also include:

  • Preparing beer, wine, highballs and cocktails accurately and efficiently
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and well-stocked bar
  • Restocking wine, beer, liquor, glassware and bar supplies
  • Changing and connecting draft beer kegs
  • Monitoring alcohol consumption and following Serving It Right requirements
  • Preparing the bar for service and completing closing duties
  • Maintaining appropriate inventory and advising supervisors of low stock or supply needs

  • A genuine interest in getting to know Members and contributing to a strong Club community
  • Dependability and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to remain organized and composed during busy service periods
  • Good judgment, discretion and professionalism
  • Previous restaurant, banquet or private club experience is required
  • Bartending experience is required
  • Serving It Right certification, or willingness to obtain it
  • Availability for evenings, weekends and some holidays

Location:

  • Located on a bus route
  • Must reside on the North Shore, Lions Bay, or Downtown

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour
