Rumpel Restaurant Group (RRG) is looking for an ambitious, energetic, and hospitality-driven General Manager in Training (GMIT) to join our team at Browns Socialhouse Nanaimo, one of our award-winning locations on Vancouver Island.

As part of the Browns Restaurant Group family, RRG is one of Canada's largest franchise restaurant groups, proudly operating 10 high-volume locations across British Columbia and Manitoba.

The Opportunity

The General Manager in Training position is designed for a motivated restaurant leader who is hungry for development, passionate about hospitality, and ready to take the next significant step in their career.

This is a structured, approximately 12-month development program designed to immerse you in our operations, leadership philosophy, business fundamentals, and restaurant culture, with the goal of preparing you to become a General Manager within RRG.

Working closely with our General Manager, Chef, and Regional Operations Team, you'll gain hands-on experience in every aspect of operating a successful, high-volume restaurant.

Most importantly, you'll learn what it means to be an RRG General Manager: a leader who drives performance, develops great people, takes ownership of their business, and creates exceptional guest experiences every day.

What You'll Learn

Throughout the program, you'll develop expertise in:

Restaurant Operations
Master the systems, standards, and daily execution required to operate a successful, high-volume restaurant.

Business & Financial Acumen
Develop a strong understanding of restaurant financials, budgeting, forecasting, profitability, labour management, cost controls, and overall business performance.

People Development
Learn how to recruit, coach, mentor, and retain great people while developing future leaders within your restaurant.

Guest Experience & Hospitality
Create memorable guest experiences through exceptional service, strong standards, atmosphere, and operational excellence.

Leadership & Culture
Build an engaging, accountable, high-performance workplace where people are proud to work and motivated to succeed.

Culinary Operations
Work alongside our culinary leadership to understand kitchen operations, food quality, cost management, and the critical partnership between front and back of house.

Strategic Goal Setting
Learn how to establish meaningful business objectives, measure performance, create action plans, and drive sustainable results.

Our ideal candidate:

• Has 3+ years of restaurant management or leadership experience, ideally within a high-volume hospitality environment
• Is passionate about people, hospitality, and creating memorable guest experiences
• Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Brings energy, positivity, and confidence to the restaurant floor
• Has a genuine curiosity for business and a desire to strengthen their financial and operational knowledge
• Thrives in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
• Is coachable, accountable, and eager to learn from experienced restaurant operators
• Takes ownership and approaches challenges with a solutions-focused mindset
• Is motivated to build a long-term career in restaurant leadership
• Is ready to work toward leading their own restaurant
