Full job description

The Job

Our Prep Cooks plays a key role in bringing great food to life! As an essential member of our kitchen team, you'll help set the stage for a successful service by preparing fresh ingredients and menu items to our quality standards. From washing, chopping, and portioning ingredients to ensuring proper storage and food safety practices, you'll help keep the kitchen running smoothly while contributing to exceptional dining experiences for our guests. What You'll Do

  • Arrive for each shift at least 10 minutes early to review the day’s priorities and tasks.
  • Confirm daily specials and preparation requirements with the Chef or Sous Chef upon arrival.
  • Verify assigned duties and prioritize tasks as directed by the Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Notify the Chef or Sous Chef promptly of any shortages, unavailable items, or product concerns.
  • Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients according to standardized recipes and specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, workstations, refrigerators, and storage areas.
  • Ensure proper labeling, rotation, and storage of all food items in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Confirm plates, bowls, and service equipment are placed in warmers and ready for service.
  • Report maintenance issues or equipment deficiencies to the Chef, Sous Chef, or Maintenance department.
  • Work safely and in compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Check posted schedules prior to leaving to confirm upcoming shifts.
  • Follow all hotel policies and procedures, including those outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Assist other kitchen team members as required to support efficient operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chef or Sous Chef.

The above areas of responsibility are not all inclusive and may be amended from time to time.

Who We're Looking For?

  • Completion of secondary school education required; culinary training or certification considered an asset.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a kitchen or food preparation environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively within a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment with co-workers, clients, and partners.
  • Must be able to work mornings, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
