Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni is undergoing a multi-million-dollar redesign to elevate our guestrooms, residential-style lobby, public spaces, and spa, and will transition to the Park Hyatt brand in 2026.

Our beautiful property is seeking a dedicated, experienced, customer service oriented professional to join the Rooms division as Assistant Front Office Manager.

Reporting to the Front Office Manager, the Assistant Front Office Manager (AFOM) assist with leading a diverse team including Front Desk Hosts, Guest Service Agents, Concierge Agents and Switchboard Operators. You will support manager all front-of-house operations to ensure, luxury-level guest service, managing staff, and maintaining high service standards. A high-end service-oriented mindset. As a high-visibility leader, you will model exceptional communication skills, responding swiftly to guest feedback and complaints with the grace and urgency required to guarantee total satisfaction.

Salary range: 70,000 – 75,000

The responsibilities of the Assistant Front Office Manager will include but not limited to:

  • Ensure a continuous emphasis and focus on luxury service standards, particularly aligned with FORBES Travel Guide, Michelin Key, and AAA designations.
  • Ensuring the smooth daily operations of the Front Office, while maintaining high levels of guest service
  • Supervise Front Office Associates and effectively coach, train, organize, motivate, communicate and recognize, as appropriate
  • Work with Associates and maintain hands-on involvement in all aspects of Guest Services including Reception, Cashier, Front Door, Bell, Service Centre, and Concierge rotating where the need is greatest, as required per shift
  • Works closely with Housekeeping, Food and Beverage and all other departments
  • Build positive relationships and maintain familiarity with local venues, attractions, restaurants & events.
  • Take part in room inspection process and monitoring inventory, room types, and categories
  • Ensure optimal and efficient scheduling in all areas of the Front Office
  • Practicing room yield management, to ensure maximum profitability of overall operations
  • Review future guest arrivals and special requests are highlighted to all relevant departments for the required action
  • Serve as a true brand ambassador and interact with guests to meet service expectations proactively and build customer loyalty through recognition
  • Full knowledge and ability to promote internal outlets
  • Plan and execute departmental shift briefings, drive department and hotel goals while promoting a professional team environment
  • Ensure compliance to all hotel policies, standards and core practices
  • Participating in communication meetings within the Front Office, the hotel, and the company
  • Full understanding of the hotel’s emergency procedures

Undertakes other ad hoc related responsibilities, as required

Qualifications

  • Possess a true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to act independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Must be available to work graveyard shifts with flexible days off depending on business needs.
  • At least one year management or supervisory experience in the hospitality industry. Must have previous hotel Front Office and/or customer service experience.
  • Proven strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Must possess excellent and refined communication skills, both written and verbal and with a diverse group of individuals and guests.
  • Must be able to make quick and sound decisions and be able to respond to any emergency situations in a mature and professional manner.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, etc.).
  • Experience with Opera or other front office software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of a second language is an asset.
  • Valid BC Driver's License with recent and clean driver’s abstract record is an asset.
  • Technically savvy with high attention to detail
  • Motivational management style with a genuine interest in service excellence
  • Must possess a polished and professional presentation
  • Outstanding guest services skills, sophisticated verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
