Full job description

Company Overview

Nero Waffles is an independent, family-owned business with several locations in Vancouver. We make authentic Belgian waffles and prepare much of our food in-house from scratch.

We are a values-based company focused on honesty, integrity, respect, inclusiveness and equality. We believe attitude and team fit are just as important as experience, and we are looking for someone dependable, organized and willing to help wherever needed.

Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable and organized Restaurant Logistics Driver to help keep our locations running smoothly.

This is not a typical delivery-driver job. Most of the role involves moving prepared food (such as dough and batter), ingredients, supplies, linen and equipment between our locations, as well as completing regular pick ups from suppliers and running errands. You will also help with stock checks, placing orders, order lists, storage organization and basic vehicle care.

The role is well suited to someone who enjoys working independently, being on the road, and taking responsibility for making sure the right products get to the right place at the right time.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the company van between Nero locations and suppliers.
  • Transport prepared doughs, batters, custards, ingredients, supplies, linen and equipment.
  • Complete Costco, BC Liquor and other supplier runs as scheduled.
  • Review stock levels and create shopping and transfer lists. Place orders with various suppliers via email or phone.
  • Load and unload the van safely and ensure products arrive undamaged.
  • Put away delivered goods and follow proper dating, rotation and FIFO procedures.
  • Help keep storage, fridge and freezer areas organized and tidy.
  • Communicate with managers and team leaders about deliveries, shortages, substitutions or other issues.
  • Keep receipts, invoices and mileage records organized.
  • Complete pre- and post-shift vehicle inspections.
  • Keep the company van clean and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Complete occasional additional errands or pickups as needed.

The current daily flow starts from our Yaletown location on Seymour Street and includes regular transfers between between all three locations, with additional Costco, supplier and storage runs depending on the day.

Requirements

  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Clean 5-year BC driver’s abstract.
  • Must be legally permitted to purchase alcohol in BC.
  • FoodSafe Level 1 (can be obtained during the hiring and onboarding process)
  • Must be willing to complete the ICBC online practice knowledge tests for road rules and signs.
  • Safe, lawful and courteous driving habits.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge and skills with tools such as Excel (Google Sheets) and email.
  • Ability to calculate order quantities using stock levels and par levels.
  • Ability to safely load, unload and move inventory up to approximately 50 lb.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Previous delivery, hospitality, restaurant or warehouse experience is an asset, but not required.

Schedule & Compensation

  • $23.50 per hour
  • Part-time, permanent
  • 5 days per week, fixed schedule with Tuesday and Wednesday as days off
  • Typical hours: approximately 9:00am–1:00pm, earlier starts and later finishes can be required based on the business needs
  • Weekend availability required
  • Potential for additional hours or responsibilities

Pay: $23.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
