We are searching for a Client Services Assistant to join our Caritas Residence team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity

  • Assists residents with hygiene and daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, meals, and mobilizing according to the work assignment
  • Assists in the provision of social, spiritual, and intellectual activities for residents
  • Cleans resident rooms, server and household common areas
  • Check laundry for tears, holes, missing buttons, etc. and repair as required or inform Supervisor if permanent damage
  • Monitor, fill and replenish supplies in resident’s suites, nursing units, and washrooms
  • Empties/cleans waste bins in resident’s suites – move waste to designated trash area
  • Ensure personal health and safety by taking every reasonable precaution in all circumstances
  • Understand role, and participate in the testing process for emergency response
  • Follows safety, environmental and infection control practices as per facility policies
  • Provides input for Wellness Consultation meetings as requested
  • Reports areas and equipment in need of repair to a supervisor
  • Participates in the resident and employee incident reporting and investigation process as required
  • Completing all duties in a way which is consistent with Shannex’s Philosophy of Service: Your life. Your choice. Your Home
  • Communicates and reports relevant information regarding resident care or safety to Supervisor
  • Additional duties as assigned/required

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Home/Personal Support Worker program, Special Care Home program, Health Care Aide or Human Services program, or equivalent
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple work assignments while displaying a high level of professionalism and commitment to quality service
  • Adheres to the Standards of Nursing Practice, Code of Ethics, Registered Nurses Act and Regulations as defined by provincial legislation
  • Current knowledge of community resources (e.g., services and programs), and roles of health care professionals
  • Able to work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Education in Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care is considered an asset
  • Completed Back in Form Lift and Transfer Program is considered an asset
  • Proof of valid CPR & First Aid Certification is considered an asset
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment.
