Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our culinary team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a professional kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in food preparation, cooking, and food safety, with a desire to grow within the food industry. As a Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen staff in preparing high-quality dishes and maintaining efficient kitchen operations.

Duties

  • Assist in food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
  • Support senior chefs in cooking and plating dishes to ensure presentation quality
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety standards
  • Handle food safely, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation procedures
  • Contribute to the preparation of ingredients for service, including chopping, marinating, and portioning
  • Support the team during service hours by serving dishes and ensuring timely delivery
  • Follow all health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment
  • Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying supervisors of shortages

Requirements

  • Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for motivated candidates
  • Strong interest in food preparation, cooking, and the food industry
  • Knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety standards
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take direction from senior kitchen staff
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed within operational hours
