Overview
We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our culinary team. The ideal candidates will play a crucial role in supporting daily operations, ensuring that our food, housekeeping and janitorial services meets the highest standards of quality and safety. These positions are perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Please note that we are currently not hiring for permanent, full-time positions. This posting is for on-call, seasonal work for Fire Camps across British Columbia.
Roles & Responsibilities
Chef - Requires FoodSafe Level 2
- Food Preparation: Overseeing the preparation of meals, ensuring all ingredients are prepped correctly and cooking processes are followed.
- Quality Control: Ensuring that every dish leaving the kitchen meets the standards for taste, presentation, and portion size.
- Kitchen Management: Managing kitchen staff, delegating tasks, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are met.
- Inventory Management: Keeping track of ingredients, ordering supplies, and minimizing food waste.
- Training and Supervision: Training kitchen staff, ensuring they follow proper cooking techniques, and maintaining an efficient workflow.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensuring that food safety standards are met, including safe food handling, sanitation, and maintaining a clean kitchen environment.
Cook - Requires FoodSafe Level 1
- Food Preparation: Preparing ingredients, chopping, slicing, and organizing food for cooking.
- Cooking: Cooking dishes according to recipes or menu specifications, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Keeping the kitchen clean and sanitized, following food safety guidelines.
- Collaboration: Working with other kitchen staff like chefs, servers, and dishwashers.
- Adhering to Health Standards: Ensuring all food is cooked to proper temperatures and stored correctly.
General Helper - Requires FoodSafe Level 1
- Food Preparation: Assisting with chopping, peeling, and washing ingredients, and preparing simple dishes or components.
- Cleaning: Keeping kitchen surfaces, utensils, and appliances clean and sanitized, washing dishes, and maintaining cleanliness in storage areas.
- Stocking: Organizing and storing food items, ensuring inventory is up-to-date, and helping with deliveries.
- Supporting Cooks and Chefs: Assisting kitchen staff with food preparation, plating, and other tasks as needed.
- Waste Management: Properly disposing of trash and waste in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
Janitor
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, dusting, and wiping down surfaces.
- Restroom Care: Ensuring restrooms are clean, stocked with supplies, and sanitized.
- Trash Management: Emptying trash bins and replacing liners.
- Stocking Supplies: Monitoring and restocking cleaning and restroom supplies.
Laundry Attendant
- Washing and Drying: Operating washing machines and dryers to clean linens, towels, clothes, and other laundry items.
- Sorting Laundry: Sorting laundry by color, fabric type, and washing instructions to ensure proper care.
- Maintaining Equipment: Ensuring laundry machines and other equipment are clean and properly maintained.
- Adhering to Safety Standards: Ensuring safe handling of laundry chemicals and compliance with workplace safety regulations.
Housekeeper
- Cleaning Guest Rooms: Dusting, , sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, changing bed linens, and ensuring all amenities are stocked and in good condition.
- Sanitizing Bathrooms: Cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks, and showers
- Adhering to Health and Safety Standards: Following cleaning protocols and maintaining hygiene standards.
