Full job description

Job Summary:
The Fort Garry Hotel is known for its exceptional Food & Beverage offerings, including our Banquet/Culinary functions. Our Banquet Cooks are responsible for the proper preparation and execution of food items for all banquet functions. We are building a team of dedicated Banquet Cooks who are committed to ensuring our guests have a delicious and memorable meal.

RESPONSABILITIES:

Prepare meals according to Banquet Event Order (BEO) while following instructions in cooking and delivering items in a timely manner.

Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment or utensils.

Cook with a variety of utensils and equipment.

Actively participate in dish up of menu items on banquet line.

Perform cooking, carving and/or other buffet station duties as required.

Ensure appealing and pleasant presentation before service.

Will work alongside other kitchen personnel to ensure a high-quality guest experience.

Maintain a sanitized, clean, and orderly work environment..

Make sure all food and other items are cleaned and stored properly.

Check for quality of ingredients and monitor stock.

Other duties as assigned.

PREREQUISITES

Minimum of 2 years experience of professional cooking in a high – volume environment; previous banquet cook experience is an asset.

High School diploma/GED required, culinary degree an asset.

Exceptional meal prep skills.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to exert well paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting.

Excellent communication skills.

Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

Positive attitude and a consistent display of professionalism.

Ability to take constructive feedback with a positive mindset of professional development.

Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Team player with the ability to communicate professionally with all hotel team members/departments.

Must be able to effectively speak, read & write in English; additional language(s) an asset.

Must be legally able to work in Canada.
