Experienced Pastry Cooks

Compensation: $19-$22 an hour (based on experience) + weekly tip out + health benefits after 3 months of full time employment

Location: Agora - 921 Queen St. West

Early morning shift - 5:30am start

We are currently looking to hire one highly motivated, experienced pastry cook with a strong work ethic to match for a full time position.

You will be responsible for baking our signature pita breads, koulouri and other pastry items on a daily basis for in store purchase, catering orders and other restaurants within Mamakas Food Group. Full training is provided. This is a high-volume production bakery environment.

Summary of responsibilities:

Reporting to the Pastry Manager, responsibilities and essential job requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Follow recipes accurately and bake items to perfection
  • Maintain proper rotation of product in all chillers to minimize wastage/spoilage
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils and equipment
  • Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Previous cooking and/or baking experience required (1 -2 years minimum in a similar environment)
  • Able to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team and individually as required
  • Ability to accurately follow recipes with no supervision

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Complete repetitive tasks, such as rolling dough
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing and pulling
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
