Full job description
The Assistant General Manager will deliver warm, attentive service to ensure an outstanding dining experience for every guest. Lead and coordinate the planning, organization, training, and supervision of both front- and back-of-house teams to achieve targets in sales, cost management, staff retention, guest satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight: Ensure full compliance with restaurant policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations while overseeing daily operations in both front and back of house.
- Guest Experience: Deliver exceptional customer service by fostering a welcoming environment, resolving concerns promptly, and upholding service excellence.
- Staff Leadership: Manage employee scheduling, training, and performance evaluations to maintain high standards of service, food quality, cleanliness, and team efficiency.
- Financial and Administrative Management: Oversee financial tasks including payroll, cash control, deposits, and reporting systems such as JotForm and Marketman to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Inventory and Quality Control: Supervise inventory management, purchasing, and food preparation processes to ensure timely deliveries and adherence to quality standards.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in high-volume food and beverage operations with strong leadership and communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of food service techniques, cost control practices, and food and alcoholic beverage offerings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with prior experience using POS systems.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities with a proven track record of executing efficiently.
- Passionate about hospitality and team development, able to remain calm and effective under pressure.
Requirements:
- Serving it Right Certificate required
- Food Safe Level 1 an asset
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Fluent English required
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, tourism, hotel and restaurant or similar
