Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Group Home Counsellor to join our team. The ideal candidates will have a passion for helping others, particularly individuals with disabilities, and will be responsible for providing essential support in various settings, including healthcare facilities and educational environments. This role involves working closely with residents, coworkers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure the highest level of care and support.

We are seeking Call-In Group Home Counsellors who are responsible for providing for the care, welfare, safety and security of individuals with intellectual disabilities/and or individuals requiring mental health and addictions support to address their overall emotional, physical, nutritional, medical, mental and social well-being.

Duties

  • Implements Resident Support Plans consistently and accurately to promote skill development and meaningful daily activities.
  • Duties may include assisting with bathing, changing beds, personal care
  • Provide direct support and assistance to individuals in need of care, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized care plans, focusing on the unique needs of each resident
  • Engage in case management activities, coordinating services and resources for residents and families.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Clear certificate of conduct including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and First Aid Certificate (training can be offered to the successful candidate)
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility
  • Team player
  • Demonstrated Client focus
  • Demonstrated good work ethic and attendance
  • Driver’s license and use of private vehicle is a requirement
  • Utilize medical terminology effectively to communicate with healthcare staff and document patient information.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
