About the opportunity

Fountainhead Mechanical is looking for a Plumbing Service Estimator to prepare accurate, clearly scoped quotations for commercial plumbing repairs, piping and equipment replacements, and corrective work.

Most quote requests come directly from our service work and technician recommendations. You will review service reports, photos, equipment information, and field findings, then work with technicians and suppliers to turn those recommendations into complete, practical customer quotations. Formal RFPs and project tendering make up only a small portion of the role.

We are looking for someone who understands commercial plumbing service work, not just estimating from drawings. You should be comfortable identifying what a repair or replacement will require, asking the right questions, allowing realistic labour, and explaining the proposed work clearly to customers.

This position is suited to an experienced service estimator or a commercial service plumber or plumbing supervisor with strong quoting and job-planning experience.

What you will do

• Turn service findings into quotations. Review quote requests, technician notes, service reports, photos, and equipment details to establish the recommended work and prepare a complete scope.
• Confirm the details before pricing. Speak with technicians, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve missing information. Attend site visits when needed to verify piping, equipment, access, installation requirements, and site conditions.
• Build accurate repair and replacement estimates. Account for labour, parts, piping, fixtures, equipment, subcontracted work, access requirements, disposal, and other costs necessary to complete the job.
• Source parts and equipment. Obtain supplier pricing, confirm material and component suitability, and account for availability and lead times.
• Write clear customer proposals. Explain the recommended work, inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions so customers understand what they are approving.
• Manage your quotation workload. Prioritize incoming requests, meet quotation deadlines, follow up on outstanding proposals, and maintain accurate records of pending and approved work.
• Support approved work through completion. Coordinate with estimations coordinators and field teams to communicate scope, arrange materials, support scheduling, and answer questions as work progresses.
• Maintain estimating accuracy. Review job costs and field feedback, support change-order pricing and billing, and use completed-job results to improve future estimates.

What you bring

• Strong working knowledge of commercial plumbing service, repairs, and replacements, including domestic water systems, drainage, fixtures, valves, pumps, and water-heating equipment.
• Experience preparing quotations or developing scopes, labour allowances, and material requirements for plumbing service work.
• The ability to interpret technician findings and recognize when additional information is needed before work can be accurately quoted.
• An understanding of the practical requirements of completing work in occupied buildings, including access, water shutdowns, service interruptions, and coordination with customers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook, with the ability to maintain organized quotation and job records.
• Clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple quote requests.
• Sound judgment, accountability, and a customer-service approach to resolving problems.

Preferred qualifications

• Three or more years of plumbing service-estimating experience.
• Journeyperson Plumber certification or a relevant plumbing trade qualification.
• Experience using Simpro or comparable estimating and service-management software.
• Experience coordinating commercial plumbing repairs, piping replacements, and equipment installations after quotation approval.

Experienced commercial service plumbers and plumbing supervisors with demonstrated quoting experience are encouraged to apply.
