Full job description

Horizon Seeds Canada Inc. is looking for a Corn Research Technician to assist in operational aspects of its corn research breeding program. This is a great opportunity to work with continued development of elite corn germplasm.

This is a permanent, full-time position, based daily at the Horizon Seeds Canada Inc. office in Courtland Ontario, Canada.

Roles and Responsibilities

· Assist with supervising the day-to-day organization of research projects including but not limited to planting, pollinating, harvesting, shelling and seed preparations.

· Scouting for pests and disease in research plots

· Perform detailed and accurate data collection in the research plots.

· Supervise and train temporary employees when required.

· Operate research equipment for tasks such as, spraying, fertilizer application, and combining

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

· Diploma/degree in agriculture/ biological science or experience in agriculture.

· Able to work overtime (including weekends) when needed

· Ability to work in varied weather conditions

· Capable of lifting 50lbs.

· Accurate attention to detail.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize daily tasks.

· Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

· Computer literacy, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
