We are a plant-based food and beverage manufactuer the GTA looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team!

WORK SPECIFICATIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform routine checks on all food samples through testing of brix, pH, temperature, viscosity, etc
• Daily calibration of laboratory equipment
• Daily microbiological analysis of food and environmental samples
• Analysis of hourly line monitoring of weight, pH, brix, temperature, volume, etc.
• Monitor finished product microbiological results
• Sterilization of samples
• Coordination of samples for third-party analysis
• Trending of data
• Finished product line monitoring to verify weight, temperature, volume, etc.
• Hold accountability for poor results if not reported or not taken actions to address the situation
• Maintain laboratory inventory and order supplies as required
• Report directly to Quality Systems Manager regarding any food safety and /or quality issues.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience and understanding of the food/beverage production environment.
• Good hand eye coordination
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment
• Thorough understanding of GMP’s sanitation, HACCP and cleanliness requirements.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and promote a team-orientated environment.
• Able to work flexible hours and or shift work as required
• Always work in a safe manner and be able to work around moving equipment
• Have a positive attitude and good work ethic

• Monitor and work closely with production
• Perform routine brix, pH, weight, and temperature analysis.
• Maintain and archive records in a manner consistent with company policies
• All other duties as may be assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• 1 year working experience and at minimum, a diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Excellent communication skills (i.e. oral and written)
• Working knowledge of current GFSI certification and other major food safety/quality audit requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The employee is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
• Exert 10-50 pounds of force and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
• Potential skin exposure to chemicals, fruit and juice

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

• Flexible hours
• Inventory counting
• Participation in joint health and safety committee
• Cleaning throughout the plant

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
