Full job description

Who We Are

Firon Roofing is a fast-growing residential roofing company known for clean installs, tight scheduling, and strong customer reviews. We run a high-volume, organized production pipeline — and we're looking for skilled service technicians who take pride in quality work and want steady, year-round employment with a company that invests in its people.

The Role

We're hiring a Service Technician to join our repair team. You'll be dispatched to residential job sites across Ottawa to diagnose roofing issues, complete repairs efficiently, and deliver a professional experience to our homeowners. You may work independently or as part of a two-person team depending on the scope of work.

What You'll Do

  • Perform on-site roof repairs including shingle replacement, flashing, skylights, valleys, vents, ice & water membrane, and drip edge
  • Diagnose roofing problems and determine the proper solution
  • Work from clear scopes, work orders, photos, and measurements provided by our production team
  • Maintain a tidy, safe, and homeowner-friendly job site at all times
  • Submit daily progress photos and time sheets
  • Report any property concerns (eavestroughing, soffit, siding, etc.) to the production manager immediately
  • Follow all OHSA and company safety requirements, including hazard assessments and toolbox meetings
  • Represent Firon professionally — appearance, communication, and conduct matter

What You Bring

  • Experience in residential roofing (repairs experience strongly preferred)
  • Working at Heights Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Own hand tools, pouch, steel-toe boots, and hard hat
  • Reliable transportation (office is not on a bus route)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and work comfortably at heights
  • Strong attention to detail — you take callbacks personally
  • Ability to read and communicate in English; bilingualism is an asset
  • Basic math skills for on-site measurements and calculations
  • Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ventilation systems and problem-solving complex roof conditions
  • Familiarity with steep-pitch residential systems
  • Previous experience in a service/repair role (vs. new construction only)

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly wage: $30–$40/hr based on experience (increases with demonstrated skill)
  • Full-time position | 40–50 hrs/week (weather-dependent)
  • Sun-Life benefits after 30 days (Firon covers 50%)
  • RBC Group RSP matching program
  • Company tools, equipment, and clothing provided on site
  • Company discounts on tools, clothing, and safety gear/PPE
  • Opportunities for overtime and advancement within the company
  • Organized production team — clear scopes, materials delivered on time, fewer surprises

Note: We typically have a seasonal layoff from late December through early/mid February.
