Senior Scientific Content Writer and Editor (Remote)
About the Role
Supreme Optimization is a fast-growing, life sciences digital agency focused on getting meaningful and lasting results for our clients. We have a mission to become the #1 provider in the world for life science and pharma digital marketing services. This means delivering high-quality digital marketing services to our customers, enabling them to serve their target audience better.
We’re growing our team, and we need a Scientific Content Writer and Editor. Your job is to produce content for our clients that gets the science right and lands with the audiences they need to reach.
If you are a personable storyteller, a proactive problem-solver, and a collaborative team player who has 4+ years of experience producing content that delivers on strategy in the life sciences, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with content strategists, editors, project managers, designers, and channel strategists to ensure content is delivered on time and aligns with the overall strategy.
- Learn about clients’ scientific products, services, and industry.
- Understand what makes each asset type work, and apply that thinking to produce accurate, polished, fit-for-purpose content, including website product pages, white papers, blog posts, landing pages, ebooks, etc., to fuel awareness through point of purchase.
- Independently advance deliverables through the content production process. This can include executing content briefs, outlines, drafts, internal and client revisions, and quality control.
- Independently interview subject matter experts to extract original insight that AI cannot scrape from a search result.
- Ensure deliverables comply with brand guidelines, design, and messaging.
- Identify and use key sources and references to create credible, accurate, and relevant content.
- Appropriately use AI and other tools to produce high-quality content as efficiently as possible.
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of content writing and editing experience in agency, freelance or in-house. Life sciences-specific experience is a strong plus.
- Scientific background: Must have scientific background in the Life Science field, like Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Cellular Biology, etc. NOT Math, Physics, Engineering, Astronomy, etc. PhD preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrable writing and editing experience across asset types, such as white papers, blogs, web copy, landing pages.
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously across different types of scientific topics.
- Fluency with AI in the writing process: prompt design, knowing when to lean on it, knowing when not to, knowing how to edit out the AI tells.
In Your First 6 Months, Success Looks Like
- Adopt and comply with Supreme Optimization’s content production process.
- Produce high-quality content that can be used as examples of what good looks like.
- Progress to delivering core content types to clients without needing internal revision, showing clear progression in writing quality based on internal reviews.
- Manage and advance a writing portfolio aligned to the content team’s KPIs.
- Prepare and conduct stakeholder and customer interviews.
- Adopt AI for content ideation and brainstorming.
- Adopt and collaborate using our internal tools, including Slack, Trello, Loom, and Google Workspace.
A Note on AI, Because It’s Important
We’re an AI-first agency, and we expect you to use AI well. What we’re against is producing content that is obviously AI as it is typically full of empty prose, repetition and logical fallacies. Our clients hire us specifically because the work we produce is better than that. The principle is to use AI where appropriate to be fast, but use your judgement, writing and editing skills to make it good. If you can use AI as a tool while still producing work that reads unmistakably human, this role is for you. If you can't tell the difference between AI output and what genuinely good writing looks like, this isn't the role for you.
