Full job description

Live where housing is affordable and outdoor activities are plentiful!. Work close to home. Earn the same wage you'd make driving into the city.

If you're an experienced shop technician, you know the trade-off: the best-paying shops are in Surrey, Langley, and Vancouver. That means an hour-plus down Highway 1 every morning, and city housing prices to match.

Zuma offers a way out. The same strong wage, $50/hour, for shop work five minutes from home in Chilliwack, where your paycheque goes a lot further.

If you live in (or want to relocate to) Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Mission, Hope, Agassiz, or anywhere in the eastern Fraser Valley, this is the shop role that finally makes the numbers work.

Zuma Lift Service is hiring an experienced aerial lift / boom lift mechanic for our Chilliwack shop. This is a $50/hr, Monday-to-Friday, day-shift role working on boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, forklifts, and related access equipment.

Just solid shop work, steady hours, and home every night.

This is not an entry-level job

We are not looking for a helper, a tire guy, or a parts-changer.

We want someone who can sit down in front of a 80-foot boom with a fault code, a laptop, and a schematic, and actually find the problem.

If you have spent a few years diagnosing hydraulics, 12V/24V electrical, CAN bus faults, and engine systems on lifts, telehandlers, forklifts, or heavy equipment, you will fit right in here.

What you will work on

Articulating booms, telescopic booms, electric and rough-terrain scissor lifts, telehandlers, forklifts, and related access equipment: gas, diesel, LPG, and electric units.

The work includes:

  • Hydraulics: pumps, valves, cylinders, proportional controls, hoses, wear pads, and boom components. Resealing cylinders is a big asset.
  • Electrical: 12V/24V systems, CAN bus circuits, sensors, joysticks, motors, harnesses, and safety circuits
  • Engines: diesel, LPG, and gas systems, including Tier 4 where applicable
  • Inspections and PM: annual inspections, safety certifications, preventive maintenance, and performance checks
  • Diagnostics: factory diagnostic software, laptops, scan tools, schematics, meters, and real troubleshooting

You will have diagnostic software, specialty tools, and a dedicated parts team helping with sourcing, so you can stay focused on diagnosing and repairing equipment properly instead of standing at a counter.

Why techs come to Zuma

  • $50/hour: strong, city-level shop pay
  • Work in Chilliwack: kill the daily drive to Surrey, Langley, and beyond
  • Live where you can afford to: Fraser Valley housing costs, big-city wages
  • Home every night: get your evenings and weekends back
  • A real schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift. No mandatory weekends. No on-call. No rotations.
  • Medium-duty work at heavy-duty pay: technical, interesting equipment without the physical wear of heavy iron
  • Local ownership: direct communication, less corporate red tape, and people who know your name
  • Your craft respected: steady pace, quality repairs, and a crew that has your back
  • Benefits: extended health, dental, vision, boot allowance, paid time off, company events, and on-site parking

You are a strong fit if you have

  • 3+ years (5+ preferred) diagnosing and repairing aerial lifts, telehandlers, forklifts, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, industrial equipment, or off-road machinery
  • Strong hydraulic diagnostic and repair skills
  • Solid 12V/24V electrical troubleshooting ability and familiarity with CAN BUS systems.
  • Experience with gas, diesel, LPG, or Tier 4 engine systems
  • The ability to work independently and document your work clearly
  • Pride in doing repairs properly the first time

Experience with Genie, JLG, Skyjack, Haulotte, Snorkel, Niftylift, or Manitou is a major asset.

Red Seal certification is also an asset, but it is not required if your experience speaks for itself.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Dental care
  • Extended health care
  • On-site parking
  • Paid time off
  • Vision care

Experience:

  • Aerial/Boom Lift: 3 years (required)

Language:

  • Fluent English (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Red Seal Certification (preferred)

Work Location: In person
