Full job description

The Blossom Group provides a home for people with complex special needs. Through our therapeutic live-in programs, we support children, youth, and adults through a range of cognitive, social, and emotional issues, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, neurobiological and developmental disabilities, and those with coexisting mental health and behavioural issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or certificate in Recreation Therapy or related field
  • Knowledge of recreation therapy processes, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver client-centered and strength-based programs.
  • Strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of belonging in a healthcare setting.
  • Leadership and communication skills with experience in experiential learning and program facilitation.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments to identify individual needs, strengths, and therapeutic goals.
  • Develop, plan, and lead both group and individual recreational therapy programs, applying a variety of techniques to promote meaningful participation in recreation and leisure.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support client progress and adjust therapy plans as needed.
  • Document and evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic activities to ensure high-quality, evidence-based practice.
  • Promote an inclusive environment that prioritizes equity, diversity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging.
  • Foster a therapeutic environment that promotes equity, diversity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging.
  • Participate in recreational activities and outing.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to support staff and volunteers in delivering recreational therapy activities.

Requirements:

  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Must be able to obtain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, medical clearance and successfully pass Safe Management training.
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License.

This position has a base rate of $24.00 per hour, with an additional $3 wage enhancement per hour, paid by the government, as reflected in the wage posted.
