Full job description

Dexter Inn & Suites is a 211 unit facility located in Labrador City at the heart of the Labrador Trough “Iron Ore Belt", and we are looking for an individual to join our team as a Receptionist.

Reporting directly to the Manager or Deputy Manager, the Receptionist is responsible for providing Receptionist & Accounting duties within the Dexter Inn & Suites. These services are to be provided in an effective and efficient manner that will ensure both Internal & External Customers are provided with the very best experience when visiting the Dexter Inn.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Present a positive and professional image of the organization to all internal and external guests, suppliers, inquiries, and other interactions;
  • Administer housing reservations, cancelations, and changes;
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk/Lobby area;
  • Maintain daily lists of occupants, check ins, and check outs.
  • Work with housekeeping to plan daily cleaning and bed changes.
  • Report maintenance issues to the maintenance department;
  • Be responsible for directing evacuation in the case of a fire alarm. First point of contact for guests, staff, and emergency services.
  • Be available to listen to, rectify and report complaints that anyone staying at the hotel may have;
  • Provide information to staff and guests about special activities or changes that may occur;
  • Ensure a safe work environment at all times that is in compliance with all company safety policies and procedures as well as the applicable acts and regulations.
  • Protect and promote the interest of this company in all matters;
  • Participate in department safety and operations meetings.
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures and company policies;
  • Process internal/external invoicing, and process payments when required.
  • Send out weekly distribution reports to divisional managers when required.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping;
  • Other duties as required

Health, Safety and Environment Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to local and externally relevant health and safety laws and policies, as well as the company HSE system.
  • Ensure appropriate priority given to HSE issues.
  • Take part in any safety tours or inspections relevant to your department;
  • Participate in the investigation of incidents as appropriate.
  • Engage in regular safety meetings with Dexter Inn staff
  • Ensure the safety of yourself and fellow workers;
  • Working knowledge of company emergency and safety policies and procedures;
  • Maintain up to date standard first aid training;

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Pose great customer service skills and have to be easily approachable
  • Must be computer literate and be able to use as a minimum Microsoft programs as well as our company EVENT software;
  • Have a great understanding of the importance of having a good reputation to promote business
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning;
  • Ability to deal with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times;
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing;
  • Working safely is a condition of employment.

Working Conditions:

The Front Desk Clerk will be required to work regular scheduled shifts of 12 hours at a time. Demonstrate the ability to take on jobs that balance the teamwork load when required. The position requires constant interaction with other members of the organization, their own team, clients and management.
