The Eye Centre provides quality eye care for patients in Fort McMurray, Yorkton and Prince Albert. We offer a full range of vision services for eye health needs, including comprehensive eye examinations for the entire family.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a full-time Optometric Assistant to join our clinic. As the customer’s first point of contact, the Optometric Assistant educates, provides service to, and organizes all patients from the initial phone conversation to filing patient records. You are also going to be responsible for the electronic management of patients’ files, for receiving and processing payments and for the administrative support of the optometrist and management team.

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer care, possess outstanding attention to detail, be proficient in accurate data entry, and consider multi-tasking their second nature. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to transition to administrative work or gain experience in health care sector!

We are open Monday to Friday 9:00AM to 6PM. Candidates must be available for all of these days.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating complete customer experiences from booking the appointments over the phone to checking patients in and processing closing paperwork, all while maintaining efficiency and accuracy
  • Supporting other staff in peak hours and absences to minimize delays and wait time for patients
  • Processing insurance coverage, receiving payment, and completing general administrative tasks with utmost attention to detail
  • Answering the phone, providing information, and directing calls appropriately in the most professional and friendly manner
  • Administering pre-testing services such as retinal digital imaging when required
  • Maintaining patient files and records according to strict confidentiality protocols
  • Assisting with keeping the clinic clean and organized at all times

Requirements:

  • Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor paired with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with basic office equipment, computers, scheduling applications, email, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment where time constraints and accuracy are of great importance
  • Willingness to learn and expand one’s skillset
