Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our Optometry clinic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service and administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment. This role requires proficiency in various medical software systems and a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding, and billing practices. The Medical Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations at the front desk, managing patient interactions, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out processes.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar effectively.
  • Handle incoming calls on multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Verify insurance information and perform insurance verification for patients.
  • Collect payments for services rendered and manage medical collections as necessary.
  • Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Assist with medical billing processes, including claims submission and follow-up on outstanding claims.
  • Utilize EMR system (Accuro & Optosys) to manage patient information efficiently.
  • Support the healthcare team and assisting with clerical tasks as needed.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist within an Optometry or Ophthalmology setting is preferred.
  • Proficient in using various EHR systems.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency; typing speed of at least 10 key typing is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient satisfaction.
  • Experience in office management or administrative support within a medical environment is beneficial.
