Full job description

Location: Downtown Toronto (e.g., Nathan Phillips Square, Union Station area, University of Toronto surroundings)
Type: Part‑time, contract (ideal for current students)
Compensation: $20/hour + tiered content and follower bonuses

About Purplesful

Purplesful Snacking makes better‑for‑you purple kernel popcorn from ancient grain, non‑GMO purple corn that’s naturally rich in antioxidants and fibre. We donate a portion of our profits to support kids’ charities in the communities where we sell, so every bag helps fuel popcorn with purpose.

We’re a growing Canadian snack brand looking for outgoing, creative students to help us bring Purplesful to life through high‑energy pop‑ups and social content in downtown Toronto.

Role overview

We’re hiring City Pop‑Up Creators & Brand Ambassadors to:

  • Represent Purplesful at busy downtown locations like Nathan Phillips Square, the Union Station area, and near the University of Toronto, subject to permits and partner events.wikipedia+2
  • Sample our purple popcorn, share our health and purpose story, and drive trial and social follows.
  • Create short‑form content that captures real people, real reactions, and the energy of our city activations.

This is a great fit if you’re a student who loves people, loves snacks, and enjoys making content.

What you’ll do

On‑the‑ground (events/pop‑ups)

  • Staff Purplesful pop‑ups and sampling tables at downtown events and high‑traffic spots.
  • Engage passersby, explain what makes Purplesful different, and encourage them to taste and follow us.
  • Help with setup, teardown, and basic event reporting (photos, headcounts, simple metrics).

Content creation

  • Create short‑form videos (>15 seconds) for TikTok/Instagram/YouTube Shorts featuring:
  • Street‑level interactions and reactions.
  • Behind‑the‑scenes at pop‑ups.
  • Fun, snackable moments with Purplesful.
  • Post content on your own channels (tagging @purplesfulsnacking) and submit raw files so we can repurpose them in our channels and ads, following brand guidelines.

Who you are

  • Current student at U of T, TMU, York, or another GTA school, comfortable commuting downtown.
  • Outgoing and comfortable talking to strangers in busy public spaces.
  • Confident on camera and enjoy filming/editing short videos on your phone.
  • Organized and reliable—if you commit to an event or content timeline, you show up.
  • You care about healthier snacking and brands with a real social purpose.

Compensation and tiered incentives

Base pay

  • $20/hour for all approved in‑person work (pop‑ups, event shifts, required team meetings).

Content format pay

We recognize that different types of content require different effort and deliver different results, so we pay more for videos than stories:

  • Story Sets (3–5 frames in a 24‑hour window, tagged @purplesfulsnacking):
  • $1 per approved Story Set
  • Short‑form Videos (>15 seconds) featuring Purplesful:
  • $4 per approved video

(“Approved” = meets our brand guidelines, submitted on time, and posted with the required tags/hashtags.)

Monthly content bonuses

On top of the per‑piece pay, you can earn monthly bonuses based on how much video content you produce:

  • 15 videos/month: +$50 bonus
  • 30 videos/month: +$100 bonus (stacked)
  • 100,000 views: $500 extra (stacked)

These thresholds are designed so your upside grows with consistent, quality video output.

Follower‑growth bonuses

We’ll give you a unique QR code or tracked link so we can attribute new followers back to your work:

  • Every 100 new followers you drive: +$25
  • When you hit 500 new followers in a campaign/semester: +$125 milestone bonus

(This is in addition to any amounts earned at the 100/200/300/400 marks.)

Perks

  • Free Purplesful popcorn and merch for events and content.
  • Real‑world experience in experiential marketing, social content, and grassroots brand building.
  • A strong talking point for your resume and future CPG/marketing/brand interviews.

Time commitment

  • Approximately 5–8 hours per week, with more hours around key pop‑up dates.
  • Most work will be evenings and weekends, plus occasional weekday events.

  • Links to your TikTok and/or Instagram.
