Full job description

Apera AI | Vancouver, BC | In-Person

Apera AI is an innovative, Vancouver-based startup at the forefront of robotics, AI, and machine vision technology. Backed by VC funding, Apera has been recognized with the 2025 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Leadership Award, the AAM Supplier Excellence Innovation Award, and the 2024 BC Tech “Company of the Year – Growth.”

Apera helps manufacturers make their factories more flexible, productive, and efficient through AI-driven robotic vision systems. Robots enhanced with Apera’s software have 4D Vision — the ability to see and handle objects with human-like capability — enabling complex automation across bin picking, sorting, packaging, and assembly.

We are looking for a high-performing Senior Accountant who wants more than a routine accounting role. This is an opportunity for someone who is excited to take ownership, improve processes, support leadership, and help build a scalable, best-in-class finance function in a fast-growing technology company.

This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and excited about automation, systems, and continuous improvement. You will have broad exposure across accounting, financial reporting, payroll, billing, accounts receivable, cash flow, compliance, and finance operations.

This is an in-person role based in Vancouver, requiring regular onsite collaboration with cross-functional teams.

What You’ll DoAccounting, Close & Financial Reporting

  • Own and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close in NetSuite
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and month-end working papers
  • Maintain the general ledger in compliance with ASPE
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with meaningful variance analysis against budget
  • Support external audits, reviews, tax filings, and compliance requirements
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies, SOPs, internal controls, and documentation

Billing, Revenue & Accounts Receivable

  • Ensure accurate and timely customer setup, invoicing, billing, and cash application
  • Review customer contracts for financial accuracy and revenue recognition considerations
  • Maintain accurate customer master data across HubSpot and NetSuite
  • Reconcile AR subledger to the general ledger monthly
  • Monitor AR aging, lead collections follow-up, and support DSO improvement
  • Prepare revenue, deferred revenue, and contract-related reconciliations
  • Support revenue schedules, forecasting inputs, and management reporting

Cash Flow & Working Capital

  • Own day-to-day cash flow monitoring and forecasting
  • Track expected customer collections and key cash outflows, including payroll, vendors, taxes, and other obligations
  • Prepare monthly cash flow reporting and provide insight into working capital trends
  • Support banking activities, payment processing, and cash reconciliations
  • Partner with leadership on short- and medium-term cash planning

Payroll & Global Finance Operations

  • Process and/or oversee payroll across applicable jurisdictions
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external payroll providers to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely submission
  • Prepare payroll journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end working papers
  • Support payroll tax remittances, year-end reporting, and statutory requirements
  • Improve payroll processes, controls, and documentation as the company scales

AP, Vendor Review & Compliance

  • Review vendor invoices for accuracy, reasonability, and contract compliance
  • Ensure charges align with approved contracts, pricing, and usage
  • Support AP processing, coding, and vendor payment planning in NetSuite
  • Prepare, review, and support regulatory filings, including U.S. sales tax, WCB, WSIB, Texas Franchise Tax, and other applicable filings
  • Maintain supporting documentation and assist with resolving notices or discrepancies

Systems, Process Improvement & Leadership

  • Help improve and automate finance workflows across NetSuite, HubSpot, billing systems, and related tools
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable processes, controls, and SOPs
  • Support finance projects from planning through implementation
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, RevOps, Customer Success, Operations, and leadership
  • Supervise and review transactional accounting support as needed
  • Provide clear instructions, training, and feedback to support accuracy and accountability

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong accounting experience, ideally in a fast-paced or growth-stage company
  • Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll, AR, AP, and cash flow
  • Strong systems mindset; NetSuite and HubSpot experience are assets
  • Experience with SaaS, technology, manufacturing, or robotics is an asset
  • Strong understanding of ASPE and revenue recognition principles
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • A proactive, ownership-focused mindset with a desire to improve processes
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Someone who wants to grow into broader finance leadership over time

Why Join Apera AI?

  • A meaningful role in a fast-growing AI, robotics, and machine vision company
  • Broad exposure across the finance function — not a narrow, repetitive accounting role
  • Opportunity to help build scalable processes, systems, and controls
  • Direct collaboration with leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Career growth and mentorship in a high-impact finance environment
  • Exposure to global manufacturing leaders and innovative customer projects
  • Generous stock option program
  • Company-paid extended health and dental coverage

The salary range for this role is $70,000–$95,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and market alignment.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a growing company, take real ownership, and develop into a future finance leader. If you are excited by automation, process improvement, and building something better, Apera AI could be a great fit.
