Job Title:

Quality Control Inspector

Location:

Guelph, Ontario

Pay:

Starting rate - $22.60 per hour

Scope for the position:

  • The Quality Control Inspector works as part of our Quality Control team to perform quality inspection, sampling and release of products including Foods and Natural Health Products for our manufacturing and distribution operations
  • Inspect and release incoming goods for manufacturing
  • Sample raw materials and finished products as needed for testing
  • Review and release of manufacturing orders to Production
  • In-process quality inspection of products and production line during manufacturing as per current Standard Operating Procedures
  • Identify, record and complete preliminary investigation of deviations
  • Quality control records maintenance
  • Complete any other tasks that may be required for quality control
  • Responsible for food safety within their scope of work

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect raw materials for production as part of incoming goods inspection program – Review supplier Certificates of Analysis
  • Sample raw materials and finished goods (send to customer and/or contract lab)
  • Release or open out of specification investigation of incoming goods
  • Complete line clearance for production orders
  • Maintain cleaning verification (swabbing) program
  • Complete in process checks of production orders
  • Release finished products from production
  • Open and complete deviation reports and coordinate with Production and Quality Assurance for completing investigations
  • Maintain QC documentation and Batch Production Records
  • Maintain QC desk and sampling booth organization and sanitation
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs (23 kg)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required qualifications, education, experience, training, skills, background, certifications:

  • Post-secondary school education in quality control or related area or experience (1-2 years) in Food or NHP quality control
  • Detail orientation demonstrated through education, training or employment in inspection, data collection or comparable environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to take initiative in time sensitive situations
  • Computer skills (MS-Office suites, Oracle Applications)
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently in a well-organized manner
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Thrive in an environment of change
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and ensure significant issues are clearly communicated and resolved in a timely manner
