About Us

The Nelson & Fort Sheppard Railway is a reputable and historic railway company dedicated to providing safe and reliable transportation services. We also operate several multi commodity Railway Reloads in the area of Trail BC.

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Railway & Transload Operators to join our team. The successful candidates will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to railway operations and the loading/unloading of freight. The successful candidates may also be responsible for the maintenance, and repair of railway tracks, ensuring they are safe and in good working condition.

This position requires you to remain clean shaven, respirator fit tested, and medically cleared for CROR operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

● Transloading of railcars to support a busy 24/7 multi-commodity reload facility

● Operate excavators, front-end loaders, forklifts and other equipment to load and unload railcars

● Follow detailed instructions, collaborate as an operations team, and sometimes work independently to accomplish complex tasks

● Various other Railway and Reload duties as needed

● This job works rotating shifts, 24/7, mostly outdoors in all weather conditions

● Operate and maintain track maintenance equipment and tools

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

● High School Diplomas/Equivalent required

● Prior Railway maintenance experience is an asset

● Prior Railway Conductor or Locomotive Engineer training is an asset

● CROR medical clearance is required

● Excavator, forklift and/or rail car mover experience is an asset

● Demonstrated commitment to safety

● First Aid certifications are an asset

● Excellent attendance records

● Ability to function as integral members of a Team

● Physically capable of work in a Railway setting (walking, standing, climbing, bending and lifting)
