Job Duties
1. Prepare and deliver lessons, assignments, lectures and demonstrations for educational purposes.
2. Supervise students in classroom and labs.
3. Supervise students in clinical situations, which may occur on weekends.
4. Evaluate students through the use of exams, assignments and observation
5. Record student progress through evaluations, student-instructor meetings, and observations
6. Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on ad hoc committees.
7. Attend seminars, workshops, etc. to keep current with industry and educational requirements.
8. Develop collegial relationships with external agencies to secure appropriate experience for students.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Specific Accountabilities
Duties include: creating and delivering lectures and labs on a number of animal health and veterinary-related topics including animal diseases, anesthesia, pharmacology, hematology, clinical pathology, radiology, dentistry, surgical nursing; arranging and tracking use of live animals; creating and using evaluation tools; leading small animal surgical nursing, clinical pathology and nursing skills labs. Driving is a requirement of this position.

Duties

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. D.V.M with general practice license, or Registered Veterinary Technologist with BSc. in biology, animal science or health sciences field.
2. Minimum of five years recent/relevant clinical experience preferably in small or mixed animal general practice.
3. Effective interpersonal skills.
4. Effective communication skills.
5. Effective instructional ability. Formal teaching experience is an asset.
6. Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment
7. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
8. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
9. Ability to travel in and around Saskatoon
