JAbout the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly motivated Medical Assistant to join our clinical team immediately. This role is ideal for experienced Medical Assistants or International Medical Graduates (IMGs) looking to gain hands-on clinical experience in a fast-paced practice environment.
You will work closely with our healthcare providers to deliver high-quality patient care, manage clinical administrative workflows, and streamline clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Triage & Rooming: Welcome patients, perform initial clinical triage, room patients efficiently, and accurately record chief complaints and history.
- Vital Signs & Charting: Measure and document vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, height/weight) accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Lab Results Review: Review and explain standard blood work results to patients as directed by supervising physicians.
- Imaging Summaries: Summarize diagnostic imaging reports and ensure relevant results are prepped for physician review.
- Prescription Processing: Verify, process, and transmit prescription renewals and refill requests following clinical protocols.
- Preventative Care & Screening: Screen patients against specific clinical criteria and protocols for targeted conditions and routine health maintenance.
- Clinical Support: Assist healthcare providers during examinations, minor procedures, and administrative follow-ups as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience / Education:
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient or primary care setting OR
- International Medical Graduate (IMG) background looking to gain clinical experience in a healthcare practice.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, medical terminology, and basic clinical documentation.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain test results and health guidance to patients.
- Efficiency: Ability to multitask, manage patient flow effectively, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced medical environment.
- Professionalism: High degree of empathy, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA / PIPEDA compliance).
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
