POSITION SUMMARY

The Events Coordinator is a specialized, community-facing role within the Ase Community Foundation’s charitable programs team. This role is directly responsible for designing, delivering, and operationalizing cultural and disability-affirming charitable events, programs, and services for Black disabled people across Canada.

This position exists to serve the Foundation’s charitable mission and furthers the public benefit mandate of the organization. The position plays a critical role in advancing Ase’s national charitable programming, strengthening community engagement, and maintaining the integrity and growth of the Black Accessibility Knowledge Hub (BLAcK Hub).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Community-Centred Event, Program and Direct Service Delivery

  • Deliver national charitable programs and events including the REAL Knowledge Series, National Youth Summer Institute Programs, Black Students Success Summits, National Symposiums and Conferences, Annual Town Halls, community training sessions, seminars, panels, forums, and National Black Disability Coalition initiatives
  • Coordinate all details from event ideation through evaluation and final reports, including writing event proposals, briefs, critical paths, timelines, and budgets.
  • Facilitate accessible, inclusive charitable learning environments that centre Black disabled participants
  • Lead the design of monthly community learning sessions on disability, Blackness, intersectionality, and GBA+, in furtherance of the Foundation’s charitable education mandate
  • Provide direct participant engagement, including onboarding, accessibility coordination, and ongoing support for charitable program participants
  • Develop and implement educational initiatives aligned with key disability and equity dates, contributing to the Foundation’s public benefit programs
  • Develop and coordinate strategies and project plans for small charitable initiatives and all events
  • Manage logistical and other details associated with the planning and execution of successful charitable events, including catering, day-of-event logistics, appropriate donor recognition, donations processing, and donation acknowledgements
  • Coordinate and embed accessibility accommodations, accessibility literacy, and disability supports across all charitable events and programs
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Marketing and Social Media strategy; evaluate engagement in support of charitable outreach goals
  • Support design web and social media content such as Canva posts and videos to advance awareness of the Ase’s charitable mission
  • Coordinate and design monthly newsletters and implement communication plans that inform and engage the charitable community
  • Manage and facilitate additional projects and responsibilities as they arise within the assigned charitable development program areas

2. Black Accessibility Knowledge Hub (BLAcK Hub) Development

  • Lead the administration, content development, and expansion of the BLAcK Hub as a national charitable knowledge mobilization platform serving Black disabled communities
  • Curate and translate community knowledge, lived experience insights, and charitable program outputs into accessible digital content for public benefit
  • Maintain the quality, integrity, and accessibility of the platform, ensuring ongoing relevance to the charitable community’s needs
  • Collaborate with charitable partners, stakeholders, and contributors to build and sustain a dynamic, publicly beneficial knowledge ecosystem

3. Digital Systems and Technical Implementation

  • Utilize Salesforce to manage participant data, charitable program tracking, reporting, and community engagement metrics
  • Support integration between Salesforce and program delivery systems to strengthen impact measurement and reporting for charitable funders
  • Apply working knowledge of Figma and no-code web development tools to support digital content creation and user experience design for charitable programs
  • Maintain and update web platforms using WordPress, Framer CMS, including CMS integrations, accessibility optimization, and content structuring
  • Implement and manage website updates, including:
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end customization
  • CMS configuration, content architecture, and integration workflows
  • Application hosting environments and deployment processes (e.g., managing updates, publishing workflows, and performance considerations)
  • Support ongoing improvements to digital workflows, systems integration, and knowledge-sharing platforms in service of the charitable mandate

4. Communications and Knowledge Mobilization

  • Support the development and implementation of public education and awareness strategies through programs, campaigns, and events
  • Develop accessible content (social media, newsletters, digital resources) that advances Ase’s charitable mission
  • Translate charitable program outcomes and community insights into reports, presentations, and knowledge-sharing materials for funders and the public
  • Support storytelling and engagement strategies that advance public awareness of anti-Black racism, ableism, and disability justice

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • The minimum level of education required is a college diploma
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience coordinating virtual and in-person events is essential
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience outreaching within the Black community
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience creating and coordinating accessible marketing and social media campaigns
  • Strong administration, content writing, Google Sheets, and Excel skills
  • Experience using Canva, Gamma, online marketing tools and platforms, social media, and Zoom
  • Experience working with charitable community organizations and partners on joint initiatives and events
  • Working and/or lived experience within the Black disabled community
  • Demonstrated lived experience as a Black disabled person, with deep understanding of systemic barriers impacting Black disabled communities in Canada (this is a bona fide occupational requirement aligned with the organization’s charitable community-based service delivery model)
  • Strong grounding in Disability Justice, anti-Black racism, intersectionality, and accessibility frameworks
  • Technical proficiency in Salesforce, , WordPress, Framer CMS or comparable no-code web platforms, Figma , CMS integration and digital content management
  • Ability to bridge charitable community engagement, program delivery, and digital systems

ASSETS

  • Experience and knowledge of disability justice, intersectionality, anti-Black racism strategies, GBV analysis, and accessibility rights and resources
  • Experience working in a non-profit or charitable office environment and on team projects
  • Practical WordPress knowledge and website update skills
  • High proficiency using Google Suite and other administrative and content management software
  • Experience using accessibility tools, accommodating persons with disabilities, understanding instructional design, and accessibility literacy
