Full job description
Join Weber Manufacturing Technologies Inc., a trailblazer since 1962! Based in Midland, Ontario, we began by mastering precision tooling in the Automotive industry and have since revolutionized it with our groundbreaking Nickel Vapor Deposition (NVD) technology. In 1989, we pioneered the Nickel Tooling Technology Division, selling our first NVD nickel shell in 1991.
By 2000, we were the only ones in the world running our own NVD operations onsite. We took the automotive world by storm, producing molds for luxury cars like Mercedes-Benz using our exclusive NVD technology. Our acquisition by Zynik Capital Corp. in 2007 further fueled our innovation and growth.
In 2008, we reshaped the fiberglass entry door market with our unique MASTERGRAIN™ brand, capturing intricate details in woodgrain like no other technology. Today, we’re not just about doors; we’re shaping luxury automotive, aerospace, and building products globally with our state-of-the-art NVD technology. Be part of a team that’s redefining industries and pushing boundaries!
The Quality Manager is a pivotal leadership role at Weber Manufacturing Technologies Inc., responsible for the end-to-end quality function across two distinct business units: Precision Tooling and Door Manufacturing. This individual will serve as the site's quality authority — maintaining and evolving the established ISO 9001 Quality Management System on the Tooling side while simultaneously building, formalizing, and leading the quality infrastructure for the growing Door Manufacturing operation.
On the Door Manufacturing side, the incumbent will take initial ownership of newly established quality guidelines aligned with our largest customer's requirements and Weber's own internal standards. Refining these guidelines, closing gaps, and establishing a robust inspection regime are the immediate priorities. The Quality Manager will also be responsible for recruiting and developing a team of Quality Inspectors to support this side of the business, building capability from the ground up.
In addition, this role carries full accountability for maintaining active NAMI and Energy Star certifications, with ownership of any additional industry or customer-specific certifications that may be introduced over time. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Quality Manager plays a strategic role in Weber's commitment to precision, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement — values that sit at the heart of the Weber brand.
Key Accountabilities & Duties
ISO 9001 – Tooling Division
- Own and maintain Weber's ISO 9001 Quality Management System for the Tooling business unit — ensuring ongoing certification compliance, audit readiness, and continuous system improvement.
- Lead internal and third-party audit programs; act as primary point of contact for external registrars and customer quality representatives on the Tooling side.
- Drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes for Tooling non-conformances, tracking root cause analysis through to effective closure.
Door Manufacturing Quality – Build & Refine
- Take ownership of the newly established quality guidelines for Door Manufacturing; identify gaps relative to customer requirements and Weber's internal standards, and develop a prioritized improvement roadmap.
- Design and implement a comprehensive quality inspection process for door production — including incoming materials, in-process checks, and final product release criteria.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop a team of Quality Inspectors for the Door Manufacturing division; establish performance standards, inspection protocols, and training programs.
- Serve as the primary quality liaison with Weber's largest Door Manufacturing customer, managing quality communications, responding to non-conformance reports, and driving resolution.
Certification Management
- Maintain active NAMI certification status — managing program requirements, documentation, and periodic audit/testing obligations.
- Own Energy Star certification compliance — ensuring products meet program criteria and that documentation, testing records, and renewal timelines are managed proactively.
- Establish a certification governance framework to manage existing and future certifications in an organized, audit-ready manner.
Cross-Functional & Strategic
- Partner with Engineering, Production, and Operations to embed quality considerations at every stage of the product lifecycle — from design and prototyping through to final delivery.
- Develop and report on key quality metrics and KPIs for both business units; present findings and improvement plans to senior leadership.
- Build and champion a culture of quality across both divisions — consistent with Weber's core values of precision, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Secondary / Project Duties
- Support capital project commissioning and new product introductions from a quality perspective, ensuring APQP or equivalent processes are applied where relevant.
- Participate in supplier quality assessments and approved vendor list maintenance for Door Manufacturing materials.
- Evaluate and implement quality management software or tools to improve traceability, documentation, and reporting efficiency.
- Investigate additional industry certifications or customer-driven qualification programs as the business evolves, and lead implementation where approved.
