Full job description

Are you an experienced Quality Assurance professional with a passion for food safety and regulatory compliance? GigHound is currently hiring a QA / HACCP Coordinator on behalf of a brand-new, rapidly growing gourmet food manufacturing company in Welland, ON.

This is an exciting, long-term opportunity to join a scaling facility during its initial setup phase and help build their food safety culture from the ground up. As a temp-to-perm role, this position offers a direct pathway to permanent employment with an innovative company committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Shift & Schedule Details

  • Initial Schedule: Day Shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday (Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break).
  • Future Flexibility: Candidates must be open to shift flexibility in the future. As production operations scale, the facility may transition to rotating shifts or a 4x10-hour/12-hour schedule model.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the company's commitment to food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. You will initially report to the facility management team and take ownership of the following duties:

  • Maintain and oversee all HACCP, PCP, GMP, allergen, and sanitation programs.
  • Conduct thorough internal audits and routine facility inspections.
  • Manage corrective actions and document non-conformances efficiently.
  • Coordinate product testing and ensure strict compliance with Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulations.
  • Deliver training to production staff on food safety systems and protocols.
  • Accurately manage records to ensure the facility maintains a >95% food safety compliance rating and remains audit-ready at all times.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification: Valid HACCP Certification is strictly required.
  • Experience: 3+ years of dedicated Quality Assurance experience within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of CFIA regulations, GMP, and food safety documentation.
  • Transportation: The facility is not accessible by public transit. Candidates must have a reliable, independent means of transportation to and from the facility in Welland.
  • PPE: Must possess and wear steel-toe boots and eye protection while inside production areas. (Other required PPE like gloves, smocks, and hairnets will be provided daily on-site).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand for extended periods on the production floor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs comfortably where required.
  • Comfortable working routinely in a refrigerated, cold-storage food production environment.
  • Strict adherence to facility policies: No jewelry, watches, cell phones, or headphones are permitted in production zones.
