Overview
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Painting Journeyperson to join our team. The Industrial Painting Journeyperson is a senior tradesperson responsible for independently executing complex surface preparation and industrial coating applications in both shop and field environments. This role provides leadership on site and in the shop, supports supervisory functions, and ensures safety, quality, and productivity expectations are consistently met. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge, a commitment to safe work practices, and the ability to mentor and support crew members as required.

Applicants must be a member in good standing with the IUPAT DC38 Union.

Responsibilities

  • Perform abrasive blasting and coating application unsupervised.
  • Independently determine and execute correct mix ratios.
  • Understand spray equipment, components, and setup.
  • Operate advanced QC equipment with minimal oversight.
  • Identify and communicate defects post-blast and post-application.
  • Lead toolbox or morning meetings as required.
  • Act as Lead Hand and oversee job scopes when assigned.
  • · Demonstrate independent execution of surface preparation and coating work to specification
  • Lead crews effectively as a Lead Hand when assigned
  • Run toolbox, safety, or morning meetings unassisted when required
  • Intervene appropriately in safety infractions and unsafe conditions
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, project managers, and clients
  • Support and mentor Level 1-6 employees
  • Understand and support advanced documentation requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum hours of industrial blasting and coating experience to qualify for Journeyperson status
  • Demonstrated experience in a lead or supervisory capacity
  • Proficient in basic computer systems and job-related software
  • High level understanding of quality control processes and documentation
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Valid drivers license (if required)

Preferred (Nice to Have):

  • Foreman or multi-crew supervisory experience
  • Experience mentoring junior workers
  • Direct client-facing project experience
  • Advanced safety or leadership certifications
  • Experience managing cost controls or project budgets
