This position works closely with the Quality and Risk team, corporate office teams, and operations to track performance metrics, support emergency planning and business continuity, and contribute to policy, reporting, and knowledge-building initiatives.
This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Support LTC homes, corporate office, and home health divisions with emergency planning, including plan development, review, and maintenance.
-
Support the completion and tracking of emergency drills and exercises and disseminate related information to supporting stakeholders.
-
Facilitate emergency preparedness activities, including after-action reviews following drills and real events, tracking corrective actions, maintaining emergency preparedness records, and supporting accreditation readiness requirements.
-
Assist with business continuity planning across the organization by coordinating plan development and reviews, maintaining inventories of business continuity plans, and monitoring plan update schedules to ensure ongoing organizational readiness.
-
Monitor, track, and follow up on annual Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) attestations and other organizational compliance requirements to ensure accurate and timely submission by all homes.
-
Support the development and maintenance of quality, risk, compliance, and emergency management resources, including policies, procedures, toolkits, templates, and educational materials to promote standardization and best practices.
-
Develop presentations, reports, educational resources, and communication materials to support quality improvement, risk management, emergency preparedness, accreditation, and organizational initiatives.
-
Coordinate and support quality and risk projects, including annual resident and family satisfaction surveys, accreditation preparation and evidence collection, quality improvement initiatives, and other strategic projects as assigned.
-
Collaborate with operational, clinical, and corporate teams to promote a culture of quality, safety, regulatory compliance, resident-centered care, and continuous improvement across the organization.
What we’re looking for:
-
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in health sciences, business, public administration, or a related field.
-
2+ years of experience in a similar position; experience in healthcare, long-term care, or a regulated environment is an asset.
-
Strong analytical skills and organizational skills with attention to detail.
-
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams); comfort with or aptitude to learn dashboards, BI tools, and AI-assisted tools.
-
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and exercise independent judgment.
-
Knowledge of emergency management frameworks (e.g., IMS, HICS) or business continuity principles is an asset.
-
Familiarity with long-term care regulation, accreditation standards, or quality improvement methodology is an asset.
