Full job description

About Sirius

Sirius Instrumentation and Controls Inc. designs and manufactures innovative chemical injection systems, smart controls, and remote power solutions for the oil and gas industry. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, we help our customers eliminate greenhouse gas emissions, improve injection accuracy, and reduce manpower and chemical costs. Registered with APEGA and proud recipients of the 2018 CETAC-West Clean Technology Innovation Award, we are a team that takes quality seriously — because our products operate in demanding environments where precision matters.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer who combines technical rigour with a genuine passion for continuous improvement. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will own and drive our Quality Management System, lead audits, manage non-conformances, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with production, engineering, and supply chain to uphold the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes ownership, communicates openly, and sees every problem as an opportunity to build a better process.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management System

  • Implement and maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
  • Develop and maintain QMS procedures, work instructions, and compliance policies.
  • Conduct and host QMS audits — both internal and external.
  • Oversee the calibration process and ensure all equipment records are current and compliant.

Non-Conformance & Corrective Action

  • Manage internal and external NCRs, facilitating root cause analysis and driving corrective actions through to closure.
  • Use problem logs to identify and report recurring issues to management and the product development team.
  • Ensure products comply with all relevant regulations and standards, including CSA.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to align on and achieve quality objectives.
  • Evaluate new suppliers and maintain the approved vendors list.
  • Facilitate training sessions on quality standards, procedures, and best practices across the organisation.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • Promote a quality-first culture by establishing and maintaining meaningful KPIs.
  • Analyse quality data to identify trends and prepare clear, actionable reports for management.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using 5S and Lean manufacturing techniques.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of QA/QC experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with ISO 9001:2015 and CSA standards.
  • Strong technical writing skills — SOPs, compliance policies, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with ERP systems.

Assets

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline).
  • Certifications: CQE, Six Sigma / Lean, CAD, CMM, or equivalent.
  • Ability to implement and maintain industry certifications such as IECEx, API 675, ISO 27001, or other applicable standards required by the organisation.
  • Experience in oil and gas, instrumentation, or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment.

Our Values

At Sirius, our values are not just words on a wall — they shape how we work every day. We look for these in every person we hire.

Continuous Innovation
Innovation begins with listening to understand and transforms curiosity into impactful solutions. It is a continuous improvement loop that channels learning back into our products, processes, and people.

Integrity
We do what we say we will do. We take responsibility for our actions and own our commitments to become trusted advisors that clients rely on.

Collaboration
We achieve excellence by working together with trust, humility, open communication, and a shared purpose. Collaboration means ownership across every step of the process.
