QA $100,000 jobs

We are looking for a Business Analyst / QA Analyst to join an agile delivery team, working across the full lifecycle of a complex, data-driven system.

Contractor or Employee

• Contract one year with an option to renew)
• Employee Wage / Bonus = $90,000 plus $5,000 bonus
• Contractor = $110,000 plus $5,000 bonus

Key Responsibilities — Business Analysis

• Develop a strong working understanding of a complex system architecture, including how data flows between the front end and back end.
• Understand and work with both SQL and NoSQL database structures to inform requirements and test data needs.
• Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements by working closely with key business stakeholders.
• Understand the use of AI tooling to assist in the development of user stories
• Write clear, comprehensive user stories and acceptance criteria that can be understood and estimated by the delivery team.
• Author BDD (behaviour-driven development) test specifications using Reqnroll, in line with the team's test-driven development approach.
• Perform desk checks on stories prior to and during development to validate they meet acceptance criteria.
• Participate fully in agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives).

Key Responsibilities — QA Support

• Support the QA function by executing manual functional and regression test cases across the application.
• Perform story-level testing to confirm delivered functionality meets acceptance criteria.
• Identify, document, and comprehensively discuss bugs and issues with the development and QA team.
• Manage and track stories, defects, and related artifacts in Jira throughout the sprint lifecycle.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst on agile projects, ideally within a complex, technical system environment.
• Solid understanding of relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) database concepts.
• Strong story-writing and acceptance-criteria-writing skills (e.g., user story format, Given/When/Then).
• Experience eliciting and negotiating requirements directly with business stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with BDD/TDD practices; familiarity with Reqnroll (or similar frameworks such as SpecFlow/Cucumber) is highly desirable.
• Experience executing manual functional and regression test cases.
• Working knowledge of Jira for story, defect, and workflow management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical issues clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working in a combined BA/QA role.
• Exposure to API or backend testing tools.
• Experience with SQL query writing for data validation.
• Located in the Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB area

Pay: $95,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
