Full job description

We are seeking an experienced Protection Services Lead (Security Site Supervisor) to act as the on-site authority directing security and protection operations for our mine site in North East Saskatchewan.

In this leadership role, you will oversee day-to-day access control, patrol operations, procedural compliance, and emergency support. You will mentor on-site personnel, manage operational challenges, and serve as the primary point of escalation for security and incident-related issues. This role requires high integrity, strong interpersonal judgment, and the ability to lead confidently in a dynamic, remote industrial environment.

This will be a mine-support role, with camp-accommodations, and a 14/14 shift (travelling to site from Saskatoon).

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Oversight

  • Direct and coordinate daily Protection Services activities, including access control, patrol operations, and compliance enforcement.
  • Allocate duties and shift assignments to Senior Guards and Guards based on operational priorities.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence, particularly during high-risk or sensitive situations.
  • Drive operational consistency across all shifts and ensure site expectations are clearly communicated and met.

Access Control & Patrol Compliance

  • Ensure access control functions including personnel screening, searches, and vehicle checks meet required standards.
  • Validate patrol routes, coverage, and reporting accuracy across laydowns, camp areas, and site infrastructure.
  • Audit logs, access records, and activity documentation for completeness and reliability.
  • Identify and address site anomalies or instances of procedural non-compliance.

Team Leadership, Mentorship & Training

  • Lead onboarding, practical skill development, and routine shift briefings for Protection Services staff.
  • Mentor Senior Guards, empowering them to model standards and support shift-to-shift consistency.
  • Conduct performance discussions, coach underperformance, and build a cohesive, disciplined team culture.
  • Identify procedural gaps and collaborate with the Emergency Response Coordinator (ERC) on continuous improvements.

Emergency Preparedness & Incident Response

  • Serve as the Protection Services lead during emergency events until relieved by higher authority.
  • Coordinate scene control, team deployment, and communications during emergency drills and live incidents.
  • Maintain team operational readiness through routine checks, scenario practice, and equipment oversight.
  • Contribute to post-incident investigations, shift summaries, and lessons-learned documentation.

Administration & Equipment Management

  • Oversee the accuracy of shift logs, incident reports, and Drug & Alcohol testing documentation.
  • Ensure site vehicles, radios, and security systems remain operational, serviced, and ready for deployment.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional workspaces across gatehouses and mobile units.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant industrial or remote-site security/protection experience (mining sector strongly preferred).
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated history of supervising or leading a security or emergency response team.
  • Licensing: Valid provincial Security Guard License.
  • Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
  • Certifications: Current Standard First Aid & CPR certification, plus all site-required safety certifications.
  • Technical Skills: Competence in MS Office Suite and digital security documentation systems.

Join our Team as Protection Services Lead (Security Site Supervisor) where your vigilance will contribute significantly to the safety of our environment!

We thank all applicants for their interest, and those who are selected to move forward in the interview process will be contacted.
